Description
Something that we have been working on for a while is an Arc Flash Analysis Course where we will go through the process of completing an arc flash analysis from beginning to end. We will use ETAP to show the steps in companion lab tutorials so you can follow along to make sure you get the right answers.
Who is this course for?
- Consulting, utility and industrial electrical engineers who haven’t completed an arc flash analysis before.
- Engineering managers interested in understanding arc flash analysis and want to offer these services to their clients
Pre-Requisites
This course is for anyone that has experience around power systems and understands the basics. We recommend that you have at least a 2 yr technical degree, or an electrical engineering degree starting out; or many years of experience working hands on in the field.
To get started you can check out our Electrical Safety Newsletter where you will get a decent course that will get you most of the way there and understand the material in this course.
What this course will cover
Using IEEE 1584.01 as the guide we will take you through the steps of how to complete and arc flash analysis from initial decision to start the process through to writing the report and providing recommendations.
We will be using ETAP to complete a model system throughout the process, but the principles can be applied to modelling software. We are using ETAP because that is the software we are using at this time. We will have some extra tutorial material for any ETAP users out there for developing the model from scratch that you can watch.
30hrs of continuing education credit, certificates will be supplied upon successful completion of the course.
Outcomes/Goals
When you complete this course you will be able to gather the electrical data for a power system, develop the model, run and interpret the reports, develop recommendations and present in a written report.
How you will learn
The course consists of over eight modules with three lessons in each. The lessons will include:
-
Video Presentations
-
Worksheets
-
